Course Overview
When children don’t yet have the words or the regulation skills to show what they’re feeling, it often comes out in actions (sometimes very big, very loud actions!) instead. Language development and brain development grow together. Hearing words again and again through conversation, songs, and stories helps strengthen the brain pathways that support understanding, memory, and speaking.
Understanding infants in the early years (0–6): Learning, behaviour and support is designed to help you navigate the early years, when children are still learning how to manage emotions and cope with frustration. When adults look for what might be underneath the behaviour, they can respond in ways that calm and support learning, rather than adding more stress to the moment. Whether you're looking to deepen your understanding of early childhood development or learn more about your own growing family, this course offers clear, practical insights in an engaging and accessible format.
This course was built to partner 'Understanding infants in the early years (0–6): Development and growth'. You can do just one course or both courses in any order, as each explores a different part of early childhood.
